"Siesta"
Joan Miro - Oil On Canvas - 113 x 144 cm
Joan Miró i Ferra (Barcelona, April 20, 1893 - Palma de Mallorca, 25 December 1983), painter, sculptor and ceramist Spanish, was an exponent of surrealism. His works are characterized by vibrant color and reinterpretation of reality, a reality which changes constantly in search of a balance between dream and reality. The reinterpretation of color in this framework offers the blue, which is the undisputed protagonist of the work, an endless versatility, the color it could be the sky, the clouds, the sea. Each contact with reality is now completely lost, it is the color to gain power, to become communicative, along with shapes, lines and writing. The work, in contradiction with its title, which invites you to just rest, refer to the games of children, the kites flying in the air, the roundabouts. The letters and numbers that accentuate the three-dimensional, appear at first sight completely random and reminiscent of the first attempts playful approach to the sign of the smallest. A work done with a stretch experimental, innovative, almost childlike absolutely joyous and full of life. Despite the appearance of a painting impulsive and instinctive, preparatory studies of this painting testify reflexivity, the calculation of the mutual relations up to a perfect balance.
