"Monet's garden in Argenteuil Sun"
Claude Monet
Claude Monet was a French artist and the founder of Impressionism, the style that focused on subjective perception, characterised by visible brush strokes, the term was derived from Monet’s painting Impression: Sunrise. He was the most consistent and practitioner of it’s philosophy of expressing one's perceptions before nature, he often painted outside. The painting Monet's garden in Argenteuil Sun, shows the artist's garden in Giverny. In the 1870s, he refined his palette, minimizing the use of darker colours and opting for lighter, pastel colours which is apparent in this particular canvas; he paints the red poppies in full bloom in the foreground with short strokes. In the background is the farm house and two figures in front of it. His work became more abstract as his eyesight deteriorated while he suffered from cataracts.
